It's been a while!

I know, I know.. it's been WAAAAY too long since I posted anything and I feel quite badly about it.. My apologies

So, let's start with Sofia's Baptism. I will interject pictures as we go!

{After 20 minutes of troubleshooting, I got the pic to upload!! Woo Hoo!}

Sofie's baptism was on April 14th at Saint Kevin Catholic Church at 2.30 in the afternoon.  A small lunch was held at my parents house immediately following the ceremony for our closest family and friends.

The ceremony was beautiful! It was a private baptism, and my friend's father was the Deacon who baptized Sofie and he spoke so beautifully!

{OF COURSE! I get inspired to start writing and Sofie wakes up! Sigh... I shall return}

{One hour, a baby, a bottle, a podcast and a peanut butter and jelly strawberry preserves sandwich later.. I'm back!}

Where was I? Oh, yes.. the ceremony! It was beautiful, and Sofie, as usual, behaved as she normally does.  Deacon Mike kept warning that she would cry, wiggle and basically put on a show when the water was poured on her head.  Boy was he wrong! She absolutely LOVES the water and she looked like she enjoyed herself!!

She had both sets of Grandparents there, along with her Godparents - my brother and Nery's sister.

The party was so lovely! Thankfully the weather cooperated {it was pouring rain the whole day before and most of the morning!} We had great breeze and yummy food! We had croquettas and pastelitos from my favorite bakery, with the crazy napkins, Temptation Bakery.  My grandmother made two lasagnas for us to serve at the party along with salad and a home made vinaigrette. We had cupcakes from my friends at Sweet Reflections and a delicious tres leches from my Mother in Law.  My friend Patty and I made all the flower arrangements. I love flowers!!

Pretty pretty flowers!! LOVE

I know that I had a great day spending time with my family and friends, and I hope everyone else did too!

And finally - in regards to the baptism - a few little details! Sofie's baptism dress was embroidered by my Tia Arlene.  The favors from the party we hand made by my Tia Anita in Venezuela, and the medallions inside the favors were a gift from my cousin Carla in New York.  Sofie's after party dress matched my dress accidentally! =) A happy coincidence! I bought her dress first and mine after without even thinking that they matched

Thank you to Sofia's Titi Patty for taking the pictures of the baptism! I love how they came out!! Thanks again bavy!!!

OK.. So, that's that!

What happened after the baptism? Oh, the day after the baptism was Sofie's friend, Dawn's first birthday party! It was Minnie Mouse theme and the birthday girl had two fabulous outfits for the party! It was also Sofie's first time at a playground and she loved the swings!

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY DAWN!!!! ♥ ♥

{It is 10.45 pm.. my brain is not functioning correctly.. Good night world, I will finish tomorrow}

{Good day everyone! It is 1 pm and Sofie is napping!
Time to continue!}

May 6th was the first time we took Sofie swimming!! She loved it! As I said before, she loves the water and she may be a natural swimmer!!

Video: Sofie Swims

Sofia is a social butterfly! She is not afraid of new people, and she loves to play with everyone! So social in fact, she had two birthday parties in the same day! The first was from mommy's friends, Carlos and Sandra's son Matty.  The second was daddy's best friend Alex and Vanessa's son Justin! Matty's party was a Mickey Mouse theme and we discovered that Sofie loves a ball pit! Justin's theme was Lion King and they had a magician that made me dance and I won some bubbles for Sofie =)

♥ HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATTY!!

♥ HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUSTIN!!

Also in May, we had Sofia's six month photo shoot by the lovely Rosalia of Dolce Photography.  I am absolutely OBSESSED with these pictures and I cannot wait to see the rest! Rosie was almost 40 weeks pregnant, when took these pictures, with Sofie's new BFF Alissa!

It was so stinking hot during the shoot and we had a cranky, fussy baby! To cool her down we sat her in the shallows of the lake and got my favorite favorite favorite shot, Sofie with her Sophie Giraffe! ♥ ♥

♥ ♥

Alissa was born 4 days after the shoot and is a sweet, tiny, little baby!

My first Mother's day was surreal! I'm still in awe sometimes that I am a mom and I am responsible for a such a precious little life! Nery and Sofia got me tickets to go see the Broadway show "The Lion King"! It was so amazing! After spending a quiet morning with my little family we went to a Mother's Day lunch at my sister-in-law's house, where we had a delish bbq and were entertained by a mariachi band! So fun!! Then for dinner we went to my momma's house.. I got a lot of "Happy Mother's Day" texts from friends and family, but by far my favorite was from my cousin Lulu! I got it around 8.30ish and it said something along the lines of "oh I forgot you were a mom too!" Which made me laugh so so much because it is exactly how I feel a lot of the time!! It was a great day overall, and so fun!!

On June 3rd, Nery and I took Sofie to the beach for the first time! We took her to Bill Baggs (El Farrito) for a few hours. It is so much fun watching Sofia experience something new.  Even though I know she is a little waterbaby, having her react to the salt water, the sand and the seaweed is funny!

One week after we took her to the beach, Nery and I realized that we both forgot our one year wedding/marriage anniversary! It was on June 3rd! The good news is that at least we spent the day as a family! To his credit though, Nery is the one that remembered the date before me.. I wonder when I would have noticed that we missed it! I guess next years anniversary will be celebrated double to make up for missing the first one! lol So happy belated anniversary to us! ♥ It's been an amazing year and I am excited to spend the rest of our lives together

Later in June we had a super fun girls beach date with Dawn, her mommy Jackie and her tia Tana. A few days later we had another beach date that was mommy, abuela and me with Dawn and her mommy and abuela!

Sofia got to meet her prima Marie Claire last week and we had a little pool party and got to splash around with her for a while.

On June 19th, Sofie had her well baby check up and got 3 shots.  As a result of the shots she had a fever the next day, that thankfully only lasted a day.  Today my poor angel has a cold.  It started last night, which an hour after I stopped typing I had to run to walgreens to get some cold meds for her.  Crazy ass pharmacist was choking on something and when I asked him if he was ok he said "nah, just kidding". He almost got punched in the throat.
I got Sofie some baby saline nose drops, and baby vaporub. We also used her humidifier to help her sleep last night.  Everything worked, and she slept from 12.30 to 8am, minus a little cry she had at 5.30 that woke me up, but she slept through it.  I've been awake since 5.30.
I took her to see her ped this morning and he told me that thankfully she doesn't have an ear infection or a fever. Her throat is a little pink from coughing and she has lots and lots of boogies. He did a culture to see if it was viral or bacterial and we will know by Friday.  So for now, just gotta keep doing what we are doing for her..

{it's 2.30 and she's still napping! Hee Hee!!}

Now I am planning Sofia's first birthday party (it's coming up in a little over 4 months!!) EEP! That is no time at all! And I really really need to start planning, or I should say, just make a decision on what Nery and I are going to do for our wedding! I want to keep it small, simple and elegant. I think the biggest problem I'm having with the planning is allowing myself to spend the kind of money that a wedding requires. I didn't think I would have this problem as I usually don't have any kind of issue with spending money! It's so weird how having a baby puts all of this into perspective.  I have no problem spending all my money on Sofie and things for her, but now I double think everything when it comes to spending it on me! Crazy..

Anyway, I think we are all caught up now and I am going to try to keep post at least once a week.. Can't promise more than that right now..

xxoo

{Perfect timing! My princess just woke up from her nap!}
