Dawn is her little BFF and they have been spending lots and lots of time together. Dawn's mommy, Jackie, and I know each other from years back. Her brothers and my brother were in the same boy scout troop, and actually one of her brothers was in pre-k with my brother! So its easy to say our families have been friends for quite a while.. Jackie and I were honorary boy scouts.. they called us Jack and Ben =)
Anyway.. Dawn and Sofie get along really well. Dawn is about 6 or 7 months older and than Sofie, but I think Sofia thinks they are the same age. We have taken them to the beach, Cool-de-Sac (which is a great place!) and Gymboree for play dates! Dawn tries to help Sofie stand up while they are playing and she is always really gentle with her. I love watching them play together!
After our last play date at Cool-de-Sac, we were walking around the mall with the girls in their strollers and they reached out to each other to hold hands!! It was the cutest thing!!!
Seriously. So sweet!
That same play date we got to play with Justin! He is my hubby's best friend's son. Justin is about the same age as Dawn, maybe a month younger. Justin looks just like his daddy - like a mini carbon copy of him!! Justin loved Cool-de-Sac too! He got to show us his throwing arm {which is pretty good!! His abuelo should be proud!} and he got along really well with the girls. His abuela, Lourdes, brought him to play and she got a nice afternoon with the girls too! =)
Sofie is also friends with Matthew. I used to work with Matty's daddy at my previous job. Matty and Sofie's first play date was at My Gym. Sofie had a great time at My Gym. They were calling her a "roller coaster baby" and that nick name is perfect for her! She loves being bounced, tossed, swung, and being held up side down! Basically anything that has her moving, she enjoys! Matty is a sweet heart {who looks just like his mommy} and Sofie is looking forward to seeing him again at Gymboree!!
Her newest friend is Christopher.. Christopher's mommy and I went to high school together.. He is 3 weeks younger than Sofie and is a stinking cutie pie!!!! I told his mommy about Gymboree and they went to our class last week. They had so much fun together and I hope we see them in class next week!
Now to gush about my baby for a while! lol {like I don't do enough of that on a regular basis!} Sofia has been crawling for about 3 almost 4 weeks now! She can pull herself up and is trying really really hard to walk! She actually took two steps all by herself on July 18th at Cool-de-Sac! She was holding my hands and facing Jackie, and then all of a sudden she let go and took two steps right towards Jackie!!! I was stunned!!!! I can't believe she is already trying to walk!!! She isn't afraid of anything!!! She did it again a few days later at home. She hasn't tried again since then, but I'm still shocked! I know that one of these days she is going to take off and run! lol I'm excited to see her reach that milestone, but at the same time I'm not ready for her to grow up!! In 11 days {today is 7.28} she is going to be 9 months old!! Where has the time gone!!!
Speaking of time going by too fast.. my grandparents have been here since 7.5 and I have seen them almost every single day since they got here. Sofie is truly enjoying playing with them and I love every single second they get to spend together.. Sadly, they are heading back to my aunt and uncle's home soon. I'm sad they are leaving again, but I'm excited because around the same time Sofie and I are going on a road trip with my parents to North Carolina again! We did this trip together last summer while I was pregnant, so this is going to be fun to take Sofie!! It's a little nerve wracking, thinking about 16 hours in the car with a baby, but I bought her some new toys to "surprise" her with in the car, and we are going to take our time heading up! I'm super excited though, because we are stopping in Atlanta on the way up and are going to the Georgia Aquarium!!!! I love fishies and have only heard great things about this Aquarium!!!!
{PAUSE!
Olympics time and then bed! Night night world.. I'll finish tomorrow!}

Ok, So I have totally been slacking on this post!! I have no idea when I started this, but I know it has been, at least, a week and a half! I have been distracted by a bunch of different things, namely the Olympics, but I also downloaded the UNO app to my phone and have become quite obsessed with it!
Also, I had written almost the entire blog and some how I accidentally deleted about half of it and then got mad at myself and didn't feel like finishing.. So now that I exhausted my munchkin a Gymboree and she is napping I can {hopefully!} finish!!
The following is what got deleted. . . .
Another reason I haven't posted anything is that I have been going back and forth on whether I should mention the shooting in the movie theater.. I didn't want to at first because I like that my blog has been a happy place {so far}.. But, Nery and I went to go see the Dark Knight Rises about a week after, and my reaction to being in the movie theater made me want to discuss it.. I was paranoid.. Every single time someone in the theater got up, or walked into the room I got jumpy. I know it was the movie because we saw "TED" the day after the shooting and I was totally comfortable. If you know me I am a pretty laid back person and things like this don't usually get to me, but I have never, as far back as I can remember, been this paranoid - except for when we went to Palace 18 on Saturday {but that's another story! lol}. I usually sit down and put my cell phone in the cup holder since it usually resides in my back pocket and I don't like sitting on it. But this time I made sure I had it in my pocket just in case I had to run anywhere I wouldn't have to worry about it.. I also sat down and made sure that I located every single exit and figured out the quickest {or what I thought looked like the quickest} way out.. I do always look for the exits, in case of an emergency - like a fire - but never have I routed my way out! Not only was I nervous, but I found out after the movie that I was making Nery nervous too!!
In what got deleted before I mentioned the victims, especially the kids and the stupid parents who took the small kids babies to a midnight movie, but I don't want to get into that again.. All I want to say is that my heart and prayers go out to all the victims and their famlies.
Now, to end this on a happy note.. my babycakes is standing all on her own!!! I can't believe it!! Two days ago I caught her standing on her own in her crib! She was clapping like she was proud of herself, and then she fell on her tush! I can't believe that I have a big girl! She is growing way to fast, but I am enjoying every single second of it!!!
She is two days away from being 9 months old! Can I cry now? lol

{You can hear Nery discuss it on his podcast, What's Up Bro?! Also, Sofie and I make the occasional cameo!}
