Before I start, I need to send a huge - HUGE - Thank you to my friend Paula!!!! The above picture wouldn't have been possible with out her!! I mentioned in my last post that I lost/misplaced the charger for my Rebel and that my replacement charger hadn't arrived yet.. She very graciously offered to lend me her charger! We met up at Starbucks and she got to meet my Sofie bear! We chatted for a while {haven't seen her in months!} and talked about the upcoming delivery of her son, Jude! He should be here within the next 10 days or so. She's a first time mommy, and I love being able to talk to new mommies and share and compare our experiences. I relied a lot on my mommy friends while I was pregnant and am always happy to answer questions for my friends who are pregnant now! =)
Any way.. Paula and I met up again the following day so I can give her the charger back.. I know she was anxious to get it back as Baby Jude is right around the corner and I would have felt so guilty if I had her charger when she went into labor!! So.. we met at Starbucks again and Sofie was able to give her a little gift for Jude.. Onesie cupcakes =) They are so cute and super easy to make.. Here are a couple of pics of the cupcakes..
So, one more time..

If you are crafty, you can follow Paula's blog at More Than Favors or, if you just love babies {like I do!} you can also follow Paula's baby blog at Baby Pichardo! I can't wait to see little Jude!!! ♥
*Side note - my charger arrived the day after the Fourth!*
Ok.. Now back to the Fourth of July =)
We went to my mom's house {as usual!} and spent most of the afternoon in the pool! My little water baby enjoyed herself so much! She loves to splash around.. But first, we did an itty bitty photo shoot to show off her Fourth of July spirit!!! ♥
After testing her patience for a while we finally went in the pool.. She loves to splash and when you blow bubbles in the water! She tries to blow bubbles too, but her face goes a little too deep into the water and that's no good.. We ran out of her little swimmers so we let her swim free! I think she enjoyed it =) Nery decided to hold her, and I warned him that she was diaper free, but he didn't care.. and lo and behold she peed on him!!! It was awesome!!! So funny!! Nery left to buy new shorts!! hee hee.. I did warn him, he chose not to listen..
Video: Sofie Kicking her Feet
As we were preparing to get ready to go watch the fireworks that night it started thundering.. and then pouring!! I was so sad! It was the one part of the day that I was the most excited for, taking Sofie to go see the fireworks, and Mother Nature wasn't cooperating!!! I was upset.. I made Nery leave in the rain to go buy sparklers so we could at least play under the roof with Sofia. He came back with some sparklers and some not-so-legal fireworks!
{Rain, rain.. go away!!}
At 8-ish, the rain stopped, and according to the weather radar the rain wasn't coming back!!! HOOOORAY!!!! So, I rounded up the troops and forced everyone out the door and we rushed to Town and Country!! We left my mom's at 8.15 and the fireworks started at 8.45!! RIGHT ON TIME!!!!
We went in 2 separate cars.. Nery, Sofie and I ended up near Blue Martini and my parents, brother and his girlfriend were over by Cadillac Ranch.. After some cell phone flashing and waving, we spotted my family and tried to make our way over to them. Working our way through the crowd was NOT easy!! I had the umbrella stroller and my camera and Nery had Sofie. I was leading the excursion.. We came upon a set of steps {3 steps to be exact}.. I turned around to make sure Nery was behind me before I stepped down, and he was there.. So I stepped. . . .
I missed the step, and down I went.. Lovely. I tried to catch myself, and fell some more.. It was like falling down twice! The people around me were so nice though!! One lady tried to catch me.. she caught my arm and tried to help me up.. Everyone was concerned about me, and they were all saying thankfully I didn't have the baby. I could not agree more!! I was so flushed and trying so hard to get to where my parents were that I didn't notice I hurt my left foot! I only felt the pain in my foot after the fireworks ended and we were walking back to the car.. Fail. Well, at least it's not broken..
So after I fulfilled my dream of seeing the world from Lady and Baloo's point of view, we continued to work our way through the crowd and we were about 20 feet away from my parents when the fireworks started!!
{{Ok, it's 7.7 and past midnight and I need to sleep! Night night world!}}

{{Good afternoon friends!! It is 2.15 pm on 7.8 and Sofie is napping.. time to carry on!}}
Ok.. so the fireworks began and I started snapping away.. Enjoy:
Heading home..
Waiting in the car
Sofie was watching the fireworks like it was no big deal! She wasn't scared and didn't cry.. She did have a look on her face that said "what the F is going on?" but other than that she seemed just fine!!!
After the fireworks, we sat in traffic trying to get out of the mall for about 30 minutes, and we went back to my parents' to eat dinner.. We had abandoned all plans of eating to rush to the fireworks show! We ate quickly and went into the back yard to play with the sparklers.. Sofia loved them!!!
{I didn't realize I was being photographed while I was dancing with my sparkler! lol)
She did get scared of the mortar fireworks Nery had bought, and the one that is like a shower of sparkles {not sure what that one is actually called}. So after 2 or 3 of the mortars my mom took her inside.. I did bring her back out for the shower one though =)
We made it home around 11-ish that night and Sofia passed out! She normally takes 3 or 4 naps throughout the day but that day she just refused to sleep! She was so exhausted that as soon as I put her in her bed she was out like a light!!
The Fourth was so great! It went just like I wanted {minus the rain!} and I'm so very happy that we got to take Sofie to the fireworks!!! We spent the whole time together as a family and it was awesome!!
The 5th of July was maybe a bit sweeter!!
We spent almost the entire afternoon sweating {and Sofie not napping} because we were having the A/C unit replaced!! It took the A/C guys about 7 hours to finish the work, but now my house gets cold!!! The way it's supposed to!!! Plus, we got a really cool thermostat!
It's a Nest - The Learning Thermostat.. So cool!
But, that's not why the day was sweeter.. that was just a bonus! =) The reason the 5th was sweeter is that my grandparents {my nonnos!}, Sofia's great-grandparents came back into town!!!! They were so excited to see Sofie and I was happy that they were back!!
Although it does make me miss my maternal grandparents!! I wish they were here to get to play with Sofia..
{My Lala and Lolo with me.. I was about 3 or 4 years old}
I will end the blog on this note.. Today our little girl is 8 months old! I cannot believe how much she has changed in such a short amount of time!! It has been incredible watching her grow and learn how to do things - from rolling over, to reaching for things, eating her food, holding her bottle, crawling, clapping, saying papa {she's almost got mama!!} and walking while you hold her hands!! I love her more every single day!! She is my world!!
{She was 1 day old here}
{This was yesterday! 242 days old!}
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I hope everyone had a fun and safe Fourth, and a lovely weekend!!
