Well.. Sort of..
Last week on Thursday I decided that I needed to call Sofie's doctor to talk to him about the sudden change in her sleeping pattern, and see if maybe there was something physically bothering her {ex. ear infection, tummy troubles, etc}. Well.. he checked her....... and nothing.. Apparently she was perfect physically.. He said it could be her teeth {they don't stop coming!!!! lol} or he was asking me if there were any new toys or pictures in her room that could be scaring her.. I thought about it and that seemed like a major possibility..
A while back, Nery had bought her a Sleeping Violet from LeapFrog.. She sings lullabies on a timer and has a light up star {like a night light}. We used it while we were on vacation in North Carolina and it didn't seem to bother her then.. but then I didn't unpack it from my travel/carry on bag until last week when the not-wanting-to-be-in-her-crib started.. I think I started using it the second day of Sofie's torture on her parents. I didn't think anything of it when I went into her room to comfort her and she was holding it like it disgusted her.. I don't know why.. I think she's cute!!
Then, on the third night, one of the times I tried to rock her to sleep, we sat in the rocking chair that's in her room with the Sleeping Violet on the dresser over looking us so we could hear the lullabies. That's when I noticed it. Sofie would not take her eyes off of the Sleeping Violet.. Not only would she not take her eyes off of it, they were HUGE! It almost looked like she wasn't blinking. I tried to hide it, I pushed it behind a picture frame so it was out of her line of sight, but then she started actively looking for it. I've only ever seen her do that when she was looking for her grandfather {my father-in-law}.. she went through a phase where she was terrified of him and would scream like a maniac every time she saw him.. That's the night that I had to lay with Sofia in my bed for 45 minutes until she fell asleep.
After the doctor asked if there were any new toys she could be scared of I decided that Violet needs to live in a drawer now. And that's where she is! Living in her drawer..
The doctor also noticed that her eyes were a little dry, a her nose a little boogery and she may have a pollen allergy, so he gave her an anti-allergy medication that she has to take twice a day, for 30 days to see if that makes a difference.
She also got a flu shot that day.. as did I at Walgreen's while we waited for her medicine.
I don't know if it was the waste of a co-pay, the anti-allergy meds or the fact that she got a shot, but that night she was out like a light! She slept the whole night and of course I didn't because I was anticipating her waking up at some point.. And she's been sleeping well ever since!
Sadly.. I started getting sick on Thursday night, and was full blown sick on Friday! Although, that didn't stop us from going to visit Patty and taking a trip to IKEA! We went to a playground and Sofie helped her titi Patty build her new IKEA chair..
I didn't realize how bad I was feeling until we got home.. Thankfully my darling baby was back on her sleeping pattern and she went to bed early as did I! {9.30 on a Friday can we say OLD LADY!!}
Big thanks to Afrin and NyQuil for helping me get to sleep!
I tried my best, all weekend, to not get too close to Sofia for fear of her catching my cold.. And I thought I was doing a good job of that but sadly she started showing signs of being sick yesterday.. This morning she woke up and felt a little warm.. when I took her temp she was at 100.. So that's me, taking her to the doctor again for the second time in a week. And of course, by the time I got her to the doctor {about 30 minutes after I called the doc} and her temp had gone down on it's own to 98.8
But, I had the doctor check her regardless.. I was worried that she might have an ear infection.. I suffered from ear infections as a baby, and again in high school so I remember how painful and uncomfortable it is to have an ear infection. Thankfully both ears are perfectly fine! So.. I just need keep an eye on her and make her as comfortable as possible..
This afternoon, after Sofie woke up from her nap, we went outside to take a walk.. I figured since we aren't going to Gymboree because we are both sick, we could burn some energy outside and getting some fresh air at the same time.. Sofie was having a blast walking through the grass, picking up leaves and twigs and being outdoorsy!
As I was watching her pick up some leaves, I decided to take some pictures {the ones above} of her being a little nature enthusiast! And then she put a dried up leaf in her mouth.. and as I tired to get it out of her mouth, bobbling her toy, my phone and reaching for the leaf, my phone face planted onto the side walk and my screen cracked. . . . . . .
I just haven't had good luck with phones recently..
Sigh
Hugs.
PS:
Sofie has been in bed since 6.30 today and is still sleeping.. It's almost 10 pm!!! She really is back!
